Re: NDP government’s radical agenda for public lands and communities

British Columbia’s communities and cherished traditions are under siege, with livelihoods and ways of life hanging in the balance due to the NDP government’s radical agenda. Their recent refusal to compensate guide outfitters who lost access to key hunting grounds is just one example of their harmful policies. This refusal not only threatens the livelihoods of multigenerational family businesses but also reflects a broader problem with the NDP’s ideological and radical approach.

Under David Eby’s leadership, secretive and unilateral decisions have replaced open dialogue and genuine reconciliation, eroding public trust in land management. The NDP’s agenda to grant veto power over 95 percent of public land to just 5 percent of the population has severe implications, illustrated by unilateral decisions like the closure of Joffre Lakes Provincial Park and dock management issues in Pender Harbour.

BC United has been sounding the alarm about these ill-conceived policies from the beginning. We believe that all British Columbians deserve a voice in decisions that shape their futures. Our approach will be vastly different.

BC United respects and supports the rights of First Nations and reconciliation. However, we oppose the NDP’s approach, which creates division, uncertainty, and harms small family businesses. We will restore community voices and heal the divisions caused by the NDP’s radical approach. Our Caucus remains committed to ongoing dialogue and collaboration with all communities, ensuring decisions reflect the realities faced daily by all those who call B.C. home.

We will ensure that public lands truly serve the public good, and decisions are made transparently and with the input of those most affected — our communities, not politicians in Victoria.

Public land belongs to all British Columbians and the NDP’s radical agenda must be stopped. Please share this message with your members to help raise awareness and build support for a fair and balanced approach to land management in British Columbia.

Sincerely,

Kevin Falcon
