Karin Kirkpatrick was first elected as MLA for West Vancouver-Capilano in 2020. She currently serves as Shadow Minister for Housing, Childcare, Autism & Accessibility, Gender Equity & Inclusion.

Building on her background as an entrepreneur and educator, Kirkpatrick is one of British Columbia’s most accomplished non-profit leaders. 

As CEO of Family Services of Greater Vancouver, Karin led some 500 employees across 12 locations providing front-line support services to some of the Lower Mainland’s most vulnerable citizens. 

Kirkpatrick has served as CEO and Registrar of the Private Career Training Institutions Agency of BC, as CEO of the Real Estate Foundation of BC, and as Assistant Dean of UBC’s Sauder School of Business. She previously founded and operated a recruiting agency. 

Kirkpatrick has been a board member of the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade, Family Services of Canada, the Vancity Community Foundation, the BC Degree Quality Assessment Board, and the BC Council for International Education. Kirkpatrick also served on the Judicial Council of British Columbia for six years. 

She has been recognized for her leadership as a Fellow of the Chartered Professional Accountants, as one of the Women’s Executive Network’s 100 Most Powerful Women in Canada, and as a recipient of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal. 

Kirkpatrick holds a Master of Laws degree and an MBA and is a Chartered Professional Accountant/Certified Management Accountant. She lives in West Vancouver-Capilano with her husband Murray, daughter Kaelan, and dog Luna.
